Hello Again! More news on the horizon the Source Festival panel has recommended me to The Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees for a Creative Communities Fund grant. In short, that means I'll be taken part in the Source Festival’s Artistic Blind Dates this summer. I'll keep you updated with more details.

The music culture of the tri-state area, a.k.a the DMV - Washington D.C, Maryland, and Virginia - has bred numerous musical artists, becoming a definitive region for a music utopia. Hip-hop, jazz, alternative rock, reggae, and more genres have found its way into the boom of DMV culture and life.

With the start of a new year, most music mags have already listed their Top 10 artists that are going to be a catalyst in the music industry. But since becoming a huge fan of a few artists around the area, I have my own list and shortened it to a Top 6. Each artist is up for the Best New Artist Wammy at the Washington Area Music Awards - D.C.'s own music awards show, equivalent to the coveted Grammy Awards.

Jazz vocalist L'Tanya Mari swings with sweet vocals and bright melodies on her latest 2009 album, "A Teardrop of Sun." Sensational grooves and rhythms capture the smooth, yet vulnerable tones of Mari's voice. One of the most special parts of her music is her accompanying jazz musicians, creating plush sounds so vivid they can fulfill a beautiful, romantic evening.

I want to share my weekend with you guys. Even though it rain for 48 hours straight, there was a sunny day in Baltimore this past Saturday. Maryanne Metheny-Katz, jazz vocalist of Jazzway 6004 concert venue, hosted a clinic "Succeeding in the Industry" by Magohany Jazz recording artist Kathy Kosin. The lecture was very, very informative and enlightening. How to get gigs. How to make a living being a performer. It's hard work. You're always searching, calling and performing. Your heart must be in it. Love and believe in yourself. This will keep on top. Hello Everyone,

Well I'm back on now. Once again, sorry for the delay. I've been pretty busy with performances and teaching. First, I would like to thank musicians: Aaron Graves, Steve Beskrone and Eddie Jones for performing with me at the 9th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration Jazz Brunch this past Saturday. It was fabulous. I would like to think Sister Terrie Fortune, Sister Cynthia Pryor(Mom) for the love and support; Deacon Woods and Deaconess Woods for their hospitality. Also the church members, what a great audience.

What's coming up!

Friday, October 9th, 7:30 PM at the Ice House Cafe in (760 Elden Street) Herndon, VA. Please come! It's gonna be fun with Paul Wingo, Steve Zerlin and Leland Nakamura on the stage with me.

I'm planning for more concerts and performances for the Washington, DC region. Please stay tune!

Ok, Ok, I'm making a move now to write on the blog.

Hello eveyone,

I know the year is almost over and it's been a busy, busy year. In the first part of 2009, I released and produced my first CD "A Teardrop Of Sun" with the help of Washington, DC finest musicians: Harry Appelman, piano; David Jernigan, bass; Tony Martucci, drums; Alejandro Lucini, drums and percussion (Pandeiro); Paul Wingo, guitar; Lyle Link, tenor and soprano saxophone. Along with a great recording personnel engineer, co-producer and mixed by Heidi Gerber of All Access Audio, Silver Spring, Md along with additional recording by Jeff Gruber at Blue House Production, Silver Spring, Md and mastered by Charlie Philzer of Airshow Mastering, Inc., Springfield, VA.

It was a great and spiritual learning experience and I'm slowly recovering from the two year project. Please take my advice ("TAKE YOUR TIME" ," TAKE SOME TIME OFF WHEN THE PROJECT IS COMPLETED, PLEASE!!!!!!") when completing a CD project enjoy every single moment with the musicians, engineers and your business associates. Surround yourself with good energy and maintained a calm spirit.

Well it's time to go. I will return every Sunday to share my journey about my first cd project, news and what's coming up next. I don't want give you the wrong impression that I'm on an ego trip, I just want to share my blessings and let everyone know "FELLOW YOUR DREAMS AND YOUR HEART" in other words, don't be afraid!!!!!!
